Rock in Rio 2024 – BIXIGA 70

Bixiga 70 is an instrumental big band known for its unique fusion of Afro-Brazilian rhythms, jazz, funk, and Latin music. Formed in São Paulo in 2010, the group emerged from a collaboration of well-known musicians from the São Paulo scene who produced their work at Estúdio Traquitana on Rua 13 de Maio, 70, in the Bixiga neighborhood, which inspired the band’s name.

With their vibrant sound and energetic performances, the band pays tribute to Brazil’s cultural and musical diversity in their compositions, making audiences dance to the universal language of music.

“Vapor” is the band’s latest work, connecting their well-known Afro-Brazilian groove with new sonic changes brought by their new members. Amanda Telles, Cristiano Scabello, Cuca Ferreira, Daniel Nogueira, Daniel Verano, Douglas Antunes, Marcelo Dworecki, Pedro Regada, and Valentina Facury are the members of Bixiga 70 in this new phase.

The band was named the Revelation of 2014 at the Prêmio da Música Brasileira.

“Quebra Cabeça,” one of their five albums, was considered one of the 25 best Brazilian albums in 2018 by the Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte.

The songs “Alumiô” and “Grito de Paz” have each garnered over 4 million plays on Spotify.
