Planet Hemp is a Brazilian rap rock band formed in Rio de Janeiro in 1993. Their musical style blends elements of rap, rock, funk, and reggae, and their lyrics are known for addressing social, political, and cultural issues. The band had a significant influence on the Brazilian hip-hop scene, especially in the 1990s. Some of their hits include “Legalize Já” (1995), “Mantenha o Respeito” (1995), and “Phunky Buddha” (1995).
On September 15th, the band will perform alongside Pitty, a Brazilian singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist who gained prominence in the early 2000s with her unique mix of rock, punk, and Brazilian music elements. Since then, she has become one of the most influential and respected artists in Brazilian rock. Some of her hits include “Máscara” (2003), “Admirável Chip Novo” (2003), “Na Sua Estante” (2005), and “Me Adora” (2009).
Both artists have performed at previous editions of Rock in Rio and will return to the City of Rock in September for a historic collaboration.
