Lia de Itamaracá is a renowned Brazilian singer and songwriter, and an icon of the ciranda from Pernambuco. Born on Itamaracá, an island off the coast of Pernambuco, Lia began her artistic career in the 1960s, gaining recognition for her powerful voice and infectious charisma. Despite facing challenges, she balanced her music career with her job as a lunch lady at two schools. Her first album, “A Rainha da Ciranda” (The Queen of Ciranda), was released in 1977, cementing her position as a leading force in this musical genre.

She has been honored during the carnivals of Recife and Olinda, and in 2019, she was awarded the title of Living Heritage of Pernambuco.
