Carminho is a Portuguese singer and songwriter, considered one of the leading figures in fado, the traditional music genre of Portugal. Her repertoire also spans jazz, pop, and Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), which she discovered through the famous soap operas she watched in her country.
Her musical career began at 22, with the release of her debut album “Fado” in 2009. By 2023, she presented her sixth and most recent album, “Portuguesa,” during a tour in Brazil.

TRIBUTE
In 2016, she released an album interpreting Tom Jobim’s songs, “Carminho Canta Tom Jobim,” featuring Chico Buarque and Maria Bethânia.

In the film “Poor Things,” nominated for Best Picture at the 2024 Oscars, she appears singing “O Quarto (Fado Menor).”
