A 25-year-old model became the first mother to win the contest, which took place this Thursday (19th) in São Paulo.
The grand finale of Miss Universe Brazil 2024 took place this Thursday (19th). The competition was held at the Gamaro Theater in São Paulo, where Luana Cavalcante from Pernambuco was crowned this year’s winner!
Luana, 25, stood out among the 27 women representing each Brazilian state and became the first mother to win the competition. She began her career at the age of 13 and has traveled to around 35 countries, including France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, and Thailand, working as a model.
With her victory, she moves on to the next stage, representing Brazil at Miss Universe, which will be held on November 16th in Mexico. Gabriele Marinho from Alagoas took 2nd place, and Maria Fabiana Mata from Rio de Janeiro placed 3rd.
This was the first edition with new rules: now, married women, mothers, and women over 18—without any age limit—can apply. Another important milestone occurred in 2021 when the competition featured its first transgender woman, Rayka Vieira.
The event was attended by the current Miss Universe, Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua, along with two other famous Misses: Nathalia Rodrigues (Miss Brazil 2007), Jakelyne Oliveira (Miss Brazil 2013), and Bianca Lopes (Miss São Paulo 2019 and 2021). The musical attraction was Wanessa Camargo, who delighted the audience with her hits.
